Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
Established in 1955, Antelope Valley Hospital is a 379-bed acute care hospital. It is the Antelope Valleys only full service hospital.

Our Volunteers Make a Real Difference - Become One to See How:
Whether youre a teenager, a retiree, or somewhere in between, we want you in our Antelope Valley Hospital Volunteer Services program. We offer one of the most active and diverse volunteer programs of any California hospital, with more than 400 participants in both the hospital and community. We actively recruit volunteers as our hospital grows, and we know that you can bring something unique to our team. We all lead busy lives, but AVH volunteers make the time to give something back to the community, and by doing so, receive an enriching gift in return - the knowledge that each of us is making a positive difference.

Volunteer Options Galore:
With so many volunteer areas to choose from, there is ample opportunity to do something you truly enjoy. Volunteers at Antelope Valley Hospital contribute thousands of in-service hours each year in such positions as assisting on patient floors, or in the newborn nursery; with clerical assignments; as staff in the gift and thrift shops; in the hospitality department; as patient escorts, or even in pet therapy. We particularly encourage senior volunteers (over 18 years old) and junior volunteers (high school students) to offer their services.

Special Volunteer Groups:
lpha Charter Guild is dedicated to raising funds for patient care and promoting public relations between the hospital and the community at large. Its principal fundraising event is the Hourglass Debutante Presentation Ball, held the Saturday following Thanksgiving. Guild members have worked tirelessly since the first ball in 1965 to provide an outstanding program for participating Antelope Valley youth.

Junior Volunteer Program, established in 1958, is one of the largest in southern California. An average of 200 students volunteer year round. The Volunteer Auxiliary board focuses on involving all Junior Volunteers in ongoing fundraising events. These young people have the advantage of seeing firsthand how important quality healthcare is to the community and how their participation helps meet the individual needs of patients and their families.

Volunteer Auxiliary spearheads raising contributions via activities that include the hospital gift shop, thrift shop, auxiliary bake sale, and seasonal sale events. Some of their past pledges benefited the Women and Infants Pavilion, continuing care nursery, neonatal intensive care unit, labor and delivery, ED expansion, and provided state-of-the-art equipment for the CCU.
